Handling Your Vessel from First Call to Last Rope

Chittagong Port Agent has worked as a shipping and customs agency in Bangladesh since 2011, covering Chittagong, Mongla, Payra and Matarbari. We are an independent Bangladeshi company, not a franchise or a foreign branch office.

The international desk opened in 2013 in Chittagong, and from there we deal directly with some of the country's largest importers on vessel calls, cargo handling and customs paperwork.

Every port call runs under the same safety and environmental standard, and we answer to Bangladeshi shipping and admiralty law the same as any local operator.

We work bulk, break bulk, ro-ro, oil tankers, tugs, survey vessels, workboats and heavy lift cargo, and the desk that opens the file stays on it through sailing.

Container Liner Agency at Chittagong Port
Container Liner Agency

We have represented some of the better known container carriers calling Bangladesh, and the liner desk runs the weekly service pattern across the port network and the inland container depots, not just Chittagong itself.

Whether the principal is an MLO, an NVOCC or a logistics house running its own boxes, the same desk handles vessel husbandry, manifest filing and container tracking, and we have been doing it long enough to be one of the older container agency names still working this market.

Grain Loading and Discharge Operation at Chittagong Port
Bulk Shipping Agency

The bulk and tramp desk opened in 2013 to work port calls for shipowners, charterers, ship managers and brokers across every Bangladeshi port.

We handle bulk carriers of every size, from geared vessels working iron ore and coal to smaller parcels of fertiliser and agricultural cargo.

Being the designated general agent on a call means chasing pilot boarding ground slots, draft survey timing and berth allocation so the vessel turns around on schedule instead of losing days at outer anchorage.

ISO Tanks Agency at Chittagong Port
ISO Tanks Agency

ISO tank moves need a different kind of attention than bulk liquid carried in a tank vessel, and we run that side of the business to the same safety standard as everything else on the water, keeping paperwork and equipment in line with international chemical transport rules.

On the flexi-tank side, we work with terminal partners to move non-hazardous liquids such as edible oils, fruit juice and transformer oil, covering everything from tank selection through installation and disposal once the cargo is out.

Break Bulk Agency Services at Chittagong Port
Break Bulk Agency Services

The break bulk liner desk connects Bangladesh to India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Japan and a string of other destinations, and the team running it is built around master mariners who have actually stood on deck during a break bulk discharge, not just processed the paperwork afterward.

Each call is planned around port authority scheduling to keep turnaround tight, and strong local relationships and steady volume let us negotiate better stevedoring rates for operators. We point clients toward the stevedoring firms that actually deliver a clean, fast discharge rather than the cheapest quote on paper.

Cargo runs the full range: timber logs, raw cashew, HR coils and other steel products, clinker, gypsum, stone, sugar, soybean meal, flour and general bagged cargo.

Feeder Agency Services at Chittagong Port
Feeder Agency Services

Feeder service is what keeps Bangladesh connected to Singapore and Colombo, and our desk sits between the inland container depots around Dhaka and Chittagong Port on the transshipment side.

Support runs around the clock, staffed by people who have worked ocean carrier transshipment long enough to know where Bay of Bengal weather and port congestion usually cause delay. We lean on that experience along with tracking tools to keep cargo moving rather than sitting on a berth waiting on the next connection.

Fendering Services

We supply pneumatic, foam and rubber fenders to protect the hull during port calls at Chittagong and Matarbari, sized to the vessel and the berth rather than whatever happens to be in stock.

The setup meets P&I insurance requirements, which in practice means fewer disputes over hull contact claims and a better premium position for the charterer. It holds up in a busy jetty environment where fender wear is a real cost, not a theoretical one.

Stevedoring, Surveying & Cargo Management Services

Our local relationships put us in a position to place cargo with stevedoring firms that specialise in the commodity actually being handled, rather than a general contractor working outside its usual cargo type.

Certified surveyors cover draft survey, check tally and cargo condition checks on both loading and discharge, and getting the count and the condition record right at the point of handling is what keeps a shortlanding claim from turning into a drawn out dispute later.

Customs Clearance Services

Our Chittagong and Mongla offices carry Customs Broker licenses, so one desk runs the vessel call and closes out the import or export file, instead of handing the paperwork off to a separate C&F agent partway through.

Tariff classification, HS code queries, DG cargo declarations and PSC officer checks all land on the same desk, and clearing them fast at Customs House keeps a container or a bulk consignment from sitting past its free time at the jetty side.

One Desk Through the Call

The file that opens with vessel nomination is the same file that closes with sailing clearance, worked by one operations desk instead of passed between departments. Owners, charterers and cargo interests calling Chittagong, Mongla, Payra or Matarbari can reach that desk directly by phone, email or WhatsApp, day or night, for anything from a lighterage vessel stuck on draft shortage to a last minute PSC officer visit before departure.
