Mongla vs Chattogram for Project Cargo, Draft, Channel, Crane and Receiver Chain

Project-cargo routing is fixed against the cargo units, vessel profile, discharge method and receiver chain. General port limits or a previous project call are not used as acceptance for the nominated vessel.

Current-fact control: This article explains planning and agency practice. Port notices, tariffs, drafts, berth/terminal limits, Customs/Immigration routes, carrier acceptance and technical-provider requirements can change. Confirm the current primary-source instruction for the actual vessel, cargo, equipment and date before operational reliance.

CPA requires unit dimensions and weight, centre of gravity where relevant, lifting points, vessel LOA and arrival draft, ship’s gear or shore-equipment need, intended discharge position, lighterage basis, Customs route and inland delivery restriction. Chattogram and Mongla are then compared against current port and receiver confirmation.

Particulars to collect first

Mongla draft, tide, channel, berth and dredging positions are checked against current Mongla Port Authority information and the nominated vessel. Published general limits and historical vessel records remain references only; they do not guarantee acceptance, berth allocation or equipment availability.

Agency boundary

For Chattogram, the desk separates jetty discharge, anchorage handling and lighterage. Crane outreach, lifting arrangement, barge availability, C&F route, survey attendance and inland movement remain cargo-specific and subject to current provider and authority confirmation.

Receiver gate and inland transport often decide the port more than ship’s gear alone. A unit that can be discharged but not moved inland is not a completed project move.

Method statements should state place-of-rest assumptions. Open-ended ‘somewhere in the port’ language creates claims after the heavy lift is already on the quay.
