Matarbari vs Chattogram Routing: When Assignment Scope Differs

Routing starts with the actual vessel, cargo and receiver instruction. Matarbari is considered only against a confirmed facility or project assignment. Chattogram remains the operating alternative where the vessel, cargo handling, Customs route and inland delivery can be supported under current port conditions.

Assignment-only notice: CPA has no standing Matarbari operating desk. Any attendance is reviewed only for a confirmed facility, project or vessel assignment and remains subject to the responsible operator, authority and facility acceptance.
Current-fact control: This article explains planning and agency practice. Port notices, tariffs, drafts, berth/terminal limits, Customs/Immigration routes, carrier acceptance and technical-provider requirements can change. Confirm the current primary-source instruction for the actual vessel, cargo, equipment and date before operational reliance.

Chattogram Is an Operating Port Call

For a normal Chattogram appointment, the principal can nominate the vessel call and request current PDA, port, terminal, anchorage and authority follow-up through the Shipping Agency page. The actual berth or anchorage route remains subject to current port instruction. Matarbari attendance remains assignment-based; commercial-port design figures are not current open-port availability.

Matarbari Requires a Named Assignment

A Matarbari enquiry must identify the facility, project or vessel assignment and the responsible operator/facility contact. A general future-port nomination is not enough. Project designs and planned capabilities are not current open-port availability.

Decision Questions

Which facility or terminal has accepted the movement? What cargo or operation is planned? Which vessel particulars have been reviewed? Who controls navigation, berth/facility access and documentation? What local attendance has actually been authorised?

If those answers are not available, keep the enquiry at planning stage rather than presenting it as a confirmed Matarbari call.

Unsure Which Route Applies?

For Matarbari, CPA requires the named facility, assignment confirmation, vessel particulars, cargo description, expected access route, pilotage basis, Customs arrangement, local service requirements and the party authorized to accept the call. Channel or project information alone is not treated as commercial acceptance.

For Chattogram, the desk checks the vessel profile against the current berth or anchorage basis, cargo-handling method, lighterage requirement where applicable, Customs route and inland delivery plan. The file records which items are confirmed and which remain subject to port, terminal, receiver or provider acceptance.

CPA returns the two routes on the same basis: confirmed operating position, open authority or facility point, service availability, cost assumption, cargo or vessel restriction, reporting schedule and decision required from the principal. No Matarbari attendance is offered as a standing desk service.

The routing recommendation remains conditional until the responsible authority, facility, terminal, receiver and service providers confirm the nominated vessel and cargo. Draft, berth, capacity and commissioning figures are not assumed from project design statements.
