Edible Oil and Chemical Parcel Tankers in Bangladesh, Jetty and Nomination Reality

Parcel tanker work is not the same file as crude at Kutubdia anchorage. Nomination quality decides whether the call is feasible.

Current-fact control: This article explains planning and agency practice. Port notices, tariffs, drafts, berth/terminal limits, Customs/Immigration routes, carrier acceptance and technical-provider requirements can change. Confirm the current primary-source instruction for the actual vessel, cargo, equipment and date before operational reliance.

Crude lightering patterns and product/parcel jetty work are different operational stories. Principals should not recycle a crude anchorage playbook onto an edible oil or chemical parcel nomination. Facility acceptance, product and environmental constraints should be confirmed for the actual call.

Nomination particulars that matter

Product and last three cargoes where relevant; Terminal or jetty intended, not only 'Chittagong'; Hose, manifold and shore readiness assumptions; Survey and sampling requirements; Owner vs charterer appointment path.

Boundary

CPA acts as appointed agent for the vessel file. It does not operate jetties, does not clean vessel tanks as an ISO service line, and does not guarantee shore acceptance. Confirm current terminal instructions for the named facility.

Last-cargo and cleaning history affect shore acceptance. Do not hide previous cargo detail in a generic ‘clean product tanker’ label.

Sampling and survey attendance should be aligned to discharge stages so evidence exists if quality is later disputed.

CPA reports facility confirmation, vessel position, readiness communication, surveyor or receiver attendance, hose or shore readiness, commencement, stoppages, quantity or quality exceptions and completion. The departure update should identify any document, sample, protest or claim record still outstanding.

Operational Updates for the Principal

Changes to parcel order or discharge sequence should be passed through the Master, principal and receiving side with a recorded time. The agent reports the local acceptance and delay position but does not approve cargo compatibility on behalf of the vessel or terminal.

Before arrival, align cargo documents, dangerous-goods information where applicable, terminal declarations, tank and line preparation records, survey instructions and the sequence requested by the receiver. A mismatch between product description, quantity, shore tank readiness or hose plan can hold the operation after the vessel is otherwise ready.

Documents Must Match the Working Parcel

Confirm whether the working plan is jetty berthing, approved offshore transfer or another facility-specific arrangement. Do not infer access from a prior vessel or from a broad Bangladesh port description.

A parcel-tanker call should be built around the named product, quantity, tank allocation, segregation plan, previous cargo status, manifold arrangement and the receiving facility. Edible oil and chemical parcels cannot share one generic discharge assumption because contamination control, hose suitability, sampling, survey attendance and shore acceptance differ.

Start With Cargo and Facility Compatibility

Start by matching the product to the facility. Give the product and, where relevant, the last three cargoes, name the terminal or jetty intended and not only Chittagong, and state the hose, manifold and shore readiness assumptions. Last-cargo and cleaning history affect shore acceptance, so previous cargo detail should not be hidden behind a generic clean product tanker label.

Confirm the current terminal instructions for the named facility, and the product and environmental constraints for the actual call. CPA acts as appointed agent for the vessel file and does not guarantee shore acceptance.
