Hull Cleaning at Chittagong: Verify the Diving Contractor, Every Time
Underwater work is provider-executed and assignment-specific; the route, method, coating, capture and acceptance position must be checked for the actual vessel.
Underwater inspection and underwater hull cleaning are separate instructions. Use the dedicated underwater technical brief for the appointed diving provider, access, approvals, environmental gate, progress reporting and evidence routing. The provider owns its method, divers, equipment, execution and technical work record; the written work order, vessel-safety window and acceptance route must be clear before attendance. Workshop and contractor capacity are not guaranteed; confirm scope, timing and authority permissions before committing the vessel.
What's realistic to arrange afloat
Do not treat a general diving quotation as permission to start. First define whether the instruction is inspection, propeller polishing or hull cleaning; confirm the work area, coating condition, provider documents, payer, written work order, vessel position and the current local or facility route. Cleaning should not begin until the Master/OOW and diving supervisor agree the safe-work window.
The regulatory backdrop is shifting globally, and that affects planning here too
Biofouling planning should start from the actual fouling extent, coating condition, trading pattern, Biofouling Management Plan or record position, local acceptance route and environmental controls. The port name alone does not establish a cleaning interval, method or permission.
Anti-fouling coating condition matters for what cleaning method is appropriate
The provider should state the proposed method, tools and capture arrangement against the coating information supplied by the vessel or principal. The responsible technical parties decide whether the method and coating position are acceptable; CPA coordinates the local route, approval line, progress reporting and evidence return.
Work order, safety and evidence gates
Cargo barges, lighters, launches, propeller or thruster use, suction/discharge, anchor movement, visibility and current can change the safe-work window. Unsafe or uncontrolled traffic is a stop-work condition. The close-out pack should distinguish provider completion evidence, Master/OOW acknowledgement and any separate owner, class or flag technical acceptance.
What we'd check before booking hull cleaning at Chittagong
Confirm the appointed provider, cleaning method, coating limitations, equipment, work area, written approval, safe-work controls and reporting recipients. Ask for before-and-after CCTV, photographs or video, progress updates, exception records and the provider’s final work record. Historical email timings or one-off working arrangements are not standing port rules.
Need Underwater Inspection or Cleaning Coordination?
Send vessel and position, inspection or cleaning scope, work area, photographs, class or flag instruction if any, appointed provider status, target window and evidence required. The duty desk will separate coordination, diving execution and technical acceptance.
